About Us
St. Eugene’s is fairly rare in the band scene in that its instrumentation includes woodwind as well as brass instruments. This combination of sounds enables the band to, very effectively, play a very varied selection of music ranging from traditional marches to the smooth rendition of swing music perhaps more famously identified with the Glenn Miller Orchestra.
As well as extending the range of music and membership of the band, we have been more adventurous in the type of engagement we play. During the past six years we have played, amongst others, at a St Patrick’s Celebration in the Omagh British Legion Club, June Carnivals organised by Omagh District Council, Scots / Irish Night in An Creagan Centre, Omagh Show and at the football matches organised for the Omagh Fund when Omagh Town met premiership clubs Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United. We also carry out charity engagements including the annual Senior Citizen’s Party for the Society of St Vincent de Paul.
Our busiest time of year is at Christmas when we play carols at various locations culminating on Christmas morning when we play at Omagh Sacred Heart Church followed by attendance at one of the Omagh Presbyterian churches.
